What an Offer Means

An Offer is a price or commercial proposal submitted by a Community User through Cave31's negotiation or enquiry facilities. An Offer does not by itself complete a sale, reserve an Artwork or guarantee availability.

Any final transaction arising from an Offer may require separate confirmation, documentation, invoicing or other arrangements outside this Policy.

Offer Workflow

  1. Buyer submits Offer.
  2. Seller is notified.
  3. Seller accepts or rejects.
  4. Buyer is notified.
  5. If no action is taken for 15 days, the Offer expires automatically.

Community User Rules

Where enabled, a Community User may submit an Offer within limits permitted by the Platform. Cave31 may display automated, historical or editorial guidance about the likelihood of acceptance. Such guidance is informational only and does not bind the Seller or guarantee acceptance.

  • The Seller may accept or reject an Offer.
  • An unanswered Offer expires automatically after 15 days.
  • Cave31 may restrict abusive, repetitive or bad-faith Offers.
  • Artwork availability is not guaranteed merely because an Offer remains pending.

The Platform may permit Offers down to a system-defined submission threshold, currently intended to allow an Offer up to 50% below the displayed price. This is only a submission limit and does not indicate that such an Offer is reasonable or likely to be accepted.

Professional User Rules

The Seller determines or approves the displayed price or indicative price unless another written arrangement applies. Where a Seller enables negotiation, the Seller may provide Cave31 with private negotiation preferences or limits supported by the Platform.

Such private information may be used to operate negotiation guidance and must not automatically be displayed to Community Users as a discount. A Professional User must respond to Offers through the authorized workflow. A Seller must promptly inform Cave31 when an Artwork becomes unavailable.

Abuse and Restrictions

Cave31 may restrict or reject Offers that appear abusive, repetitive, manipulative, fraudulent, technically improper or made in bad faith. Cave31 may suspend or limit account access where necessary to protect Users, Sellers, the Platform or the integrity of negotiation facilities.
